This paining of Twilight Sparkle was fun to work on! I wanted to have a little piece to show any small eyes that might want to peak in the headset and see what the crazy lady with the white box on her face is doing 😉
‘My little pony’ has been a thing for years so there are a few generations that are familiar with the animated series. For the most part, I worked with the ‘matte hall brush’ which proved to be kind of challenging. Because the colour doesn’t have any shading, it is sometimes hard to tell if you ‘filled up’ the volume enough. It looks great but then you look from a different angle and discover there are chunks missing. The uniform colour gives it the cartoonish look though so it I think it was worth it in the end.
I had fun creating the different coloured scene and adding moving elements such as the ‘sparkles’ to add the touch of magic. The pony is called ‘Twilight Sparkle’ after all…
My plan is to add some of the other ponies from the series and make Twilight some friends – just have to check if the memory will allow for this (did you know you can check the memory usage of individual sketches in Tilt Brush in the settings? I learnt it only recently and it is such a useful thing to know, particularly if you’re working on the Quest2!).
