Growing up, I’ve been always fascinated by technology and spending time exploring it felt very natural. Seeing and experiencing the fast advancements in all aspects of its development and application were incredibly thrilling! Thinking back, I am not sure when exactly it happened but that excitement slowly…fizzled out. It might have been my inner turmoil and unwillingness to embrace social media that unintentionally hindered my relationship with technology. During my university years, my interests turned to exploring the broader aspects of technology – the impacts on society, our relationships, both the intended and unintended consequences as well as the impacts on our own psyche, mental processes and identity in general.
Now enters Virtual Reality.
Some might say I am late on the VR train. And yes, this is for sure the beginning of my virtual reality journey as the Oculus Quest 2 is still on it’s way. But with the available technology at the current price points, I feel that we are on the brim of something new again. Something pretty exciting. A time where Virtual Reality becomes available to the average consumer and when its potential could see widespread application.
I haven’t felt excited about technology in a while…until now. And it feels good. It brings back the feelings of anticipation and excitement like hearing the dial up beeping sounds (remember that?!). When you realized there is something more on the other side. Much more. When you realized you get the chance to be a part of it…
